In 2017, Ira moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music, where he immersed himself in American roots music, was a recipient of the Fletcher Bright Endowed Scholarship and the Professional Music Department Achievement Award, and was a guitar accompanist for the vocal and string departments. Ira has performed internationally in venues such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Harvard University's Carpenter Center for Visual Arts, and festivals such as Folk Alliance International, FreshGrass Mass MOCA, and Red Sea Jazz Festival, Israel. Reflecting his work across a variety of musical styles such as folk, blues, rock and jazz, Ira is passionate about working with students to develop a solid and flexible technical and creative toolbox. As an educator, Ira's approach is process oriented—he believes that guiding students in learning how to learn deeply and efficiently is his most important role. Ira aspires to promote a sense of curiosity in his students through the cultivation of listening skills, providing students with a space to actively ask questions, make mistakes, and achieve progress. |
