DAVID ANDREW MOORE
Drum, Percussion, Composing
David Andrew Moore is a drummer, percussionist, and composer, noted for his deep, swinging grooves, empathetic accompaniments, inventive solos, and exciting original compositions. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music, and has studied privately with Joey Baron, Dan Weiss, and Matt Moran.
David founded The Arcanauts in 2018 to play his original compositions. In 2019, the band released their first EP, Initiation. Informed by symbolism and numerology from the Western Mystery Tradition, Initiation laid the tracks for the musical direction that The Arcanauts would take over the next couple years; original jazz heavily influenced by post bop, early fusion and the psychedelia informed jazz of the late 60’s.On the band’s second release, The Hermit, the Arcanauts’ musical pallet expanded to include rhythms and forms more closely associated with funk, disco and the post-disco era. The EP featured several special guests including vocalist Robbie Pate, and legendary Motown session guitarist Wali Ali. The band plays regularly at the Gulu-Gulu Cafe in Salem, MA for locals and tourists alike.
In March of 2021, David became the host of the Saturday Jam Session at Backbeat Brewing Company in Beverly, MA. The mission of the Saturday Jam Session is to promote the various threads of the jazz tradition in Boston’s North Shore by presenting some of the area’s best local and visiting musicians and giving young and up-and-coming musicians the opportunity to play with them. Some musician guests of the Saturday Jam Session have included Sheryl Bailey, Allen Chase, Marshall Wood, Mark Zaleski, Tom Palance, and others.
As a sideman, David has performed with a wide range of artists including Slavic Soul Party, Cleveland Eaton, Andy Statman, and many others. He has played at major international Jazz festivals, including The Montreal Jazz Festival and The Freihofer jazz Festival in Saratoga Springs, NY. Davidcontinues to work in both the greater Boston and New York City music scenes with artists such as Joe “Madman” Albano, Joe Pino, Greg Toro, Ethan Kaczowka, Tom Palance, and Even goodrow.
